Changing how pupils behave in Chesire

"Before Securus was installed, pupils were only likely to be caught if a teacher actually saw them doing something they shouldn't. However, if the problem occurred in an email, there might be no record of it in the pupil's account when it was checked. You might have certain suspicions but if you can't get the evidence, you can't prove it. Securus captures any misuse automatically, catching them straight away. And when you show them the evidence, they can't say 'it wasn't me'"

Ian Clegg, Network Manager, Upton-by-Chester High School

Ofsted praises London school for its e-safety

"Our pupils have a right not to be harassed or bullied or made to feel vulnerable in school. Securus gives pupils the knowledge that whatever is happening, they will be listened to and action will be taken if inappropropriate things are being transmitted. Securus has confirmed a lot of the good policy and practice that we have put in place and it was certainly picked up as a key player in the Ofsted inspection. When the inspectors described us as 'a good school with some outstanding features', the features that impressed them most were the pastoral system and the care we take of our students. I talked to the inspectors about the moral and cultural climate in the school and how Securus has helped to foster this. The overwhelming message from Ofsted was that students felt supported and safe within the school."

Kevin Watling, Assistant Headeacher, Teddington School

Teaching pupils to be safe online

"This is a real school with real kids. They will and do send abusive messages. Pupils here are bright and innovative. They will do their best to get past any managed ICT system.

Securus has given us the ability to catch the kids. Also it has taught them the correct way to behave and what will happen if they don't."

Mark Grundy, Headteacher, Shireland Collegiate Academy, Smethwick

Stopping cyberbullying

"When we started using Securus, we were getting 60-70 incidents of abuse of the school internet a week - including cyberbullying. Now it's down to two or three. Securus provides an unparalleled level of protection for students."

Monitoring inappropriate contacts

"We are impressed with the software. It has already alerted us to an email situation that had the potential to lead a pupil into a difficult liaison."

Identifying bullying by email

"We have had instances with pupils bullying other pupils by email. Securus is vital in a situation like this because bullied children will not tell you they are being bullied.

The software keeps an eye on email, Word files and deleted material. It helps to reveal who is being bullied and by whom. Securus has provided great support - they really are the most helpful company I have ever worked with."

Maurice Cooper, ICT Coordinator, Bridgemary Community Sports College, Gosport

Controlling the use of unblocker websites

"Hundreds of new proxy website addresses, which allow pupils to bypass school blocking, are passing between pupils and schools like wildfire. Whenever one of our pupils has accessed one of these proxy unblockers, Securus has alerted us, enabling us to stop them in their tracks and prevent future access."

Mel Court, ICT Manager, Royal Alexandra and Albert School, Reigate

Transforming classroom behaviour

"We have managed to use teaching time more efficiently through running Securus. We have noticed attempts to misbehave on the system have been dramatically cut and that's an understatement!"

Serle Frazer, ICT Systems Manager, Kesteven & Sleaford High School, Sleaford

Improving focus on-task

"Since the introduction of Securus software on all the school's computers the incidence of students accessing inappropriate websites or inputting inappropriate comments in any part of Microsoft Office has been almost completely eliminated.

It is a very powerful tool that helps keep students on-task in lessons and protects them from the undesirable aspects of the world wide web."

John Cain, Headteacher, Reigate School, Reigate

Offering a managed service

"No school, primary or secondary, can afford to operate without some form of protection, which needs to be active and provide specific information leading to resolution of the issues, rather than simply blocking.

As a technology college, we have very good relationships with our feeder schools and are looking to support them by designing virtual learning stations. We can't in good conscience offer this functionality without including the protection that Securus provides."
